Background and Objectives

One of the roles of Sexual and Gender Based Harassment and Sexual Violence Prevention Committee (SGBVC) is to create awareness among students and staff towards zero tolerance of SGBV within the university of Peradeniya. The faculty sub-committee will work with the SGBV committee of the UOP to create and enhance awareness about SGBV including masculinities and femininities and the available mechanisms against SGBV among the university community. It will help the sustainability of the interventions to achieve transformation of attitudes, values and beliefs related to gender-power relations. The committee shall act as a grievances committee or in the capacity of counsellors and will act in consultation and liaison with the Sexual and Gender-Based Harassment and Sexual Violence Prevention Committee (SGBVC) of the University of Peradeniya. Members of the Committee will receive a brief training on SGBV issues and gender-related issues before it starts operations.

Objectives
To facilitate and coordinate the activities organized by SGBVC to ensure better community (UoP) participation and a meaningful outcome.
To get the assistance of administrative and academic bodies at faculty level for activities conducted by SGBVC.
