The Agriculture Education Unit (AEU) was established in 2007 as one of the four outreach units of the Faculty of Agriculture. It operates under the guidelines of the Universities Act No 16 of 1978.
Mandate (Objectives) of AEU
To train a new generation of trainers in agriculture and allied fields.
To provide consultation in the development of curricula and training/teaching methodologies for trainers and trainees.
To conduct and take part in research in agriculture and allied fields of study.
To actively involve in policy planning, capacity building and national development programs related to agriculture in Sri Lanka.
To support the activities of the central and provincial governments of Sri Lanka in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
