The Faculty of Agriculture, University of Peradeniya, proudly announces the outstanding achievements of students from the Department of Food Science and Technology at Profood Propack 2026. Held at the BMICH from August 21st to 23rd, 2026, this event provided an excellent stage for undergraduates to showcase their talents to the public and the industry.
The students brought great honor to the Faculty by securing top positions in key competitions organized by the Institute of Food Science and Technology Sri Lanka (IFSTSL):
Champions: FoodSci Quest 2026 (Inter-University Quiz Competition)
People's Choice Award: 3MT Flash Talk Challenge
Beyond the competitions, the Department’s exhibition stall was a major highlight of the event. The busy and engaging space drew a large crowd of visitors who highly appreciated the interactive activities and the innovative new food products developed by the students.
These achievements clearly reflect the hard work, talent, and innovative spirit of the students and staff. The Faculty extends its warmest congratulations to the winning teams and thanks the IFSTSL for providing such a valuable platform for university students.

This premier multidisciplinary research symposium serves as a vital platform for scholarly excellence, and our faculty members have once again demonstrated their commitment to advancing global knowledge, innovation, and high-impact research.
During the prestigious award ceremony, several of our distinguished researchers were honored across multiple high-tier categories:
URC Research Awards: Awarded to outstanding researchers for their exceptional research outputs, patents, and competitive grants secured over the past year.
Research Excellence Awards (Tier 4): Conferred upon permanent academic staff members who have maintained exceptionally high H-index values, reflecting their sustained citation impact and research influence.
Outstanding Scholars (Q1 Journal Publications): Recognizing researchers who have served as corresponding authors for scholarly articles published in top-tier, internationally recognized Q1 academic journals.

The Faculty of Agriculture warmly encourages all researchers, academics, and students to submit abstracts for the upcoming 'Delivering for Nutrition in South Asia' conference. The University of Peradeniya is partnering with IFPRI, CGIAR, and global co-hosts for this event, providing a critical platform to present innovative solutions and engage in vital dialogues concerning food systems. Utilizing a hybrid format (Colombo, Sri Lanka & Online), the event is scheduled from December 1-3, 2026. Please submit abstracts by August 25, 2026 (23:59 GMT).
