The Livestock Field Station, managed by the Department of Animal Science, is a 100-hectare model farm in Mawelawatta, Uda Peradeniya, located about 2 kilometers from Peradeniya. It showcases a livestock-bio energy-fish integration system and houses various production units of different breeds of animals, including cattle, buffalo, sheep, goats, rabbits, poultry, broilers, quails, ducks, and swine. The field station is utilized for undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, research, and training in Animal Production. The Livestock Field Station at Uda-Peradeniya is currently managed by a team consisting of a farm manager, an assistant farm manager, a field supervisor, two dairy assistants, a farm supervisor, and a salesman. They are supported by 17 laborers and two drivers who assist with the daily operations of the farm.
