Fourth Study Abroad Program on "Sustainable Tropical Agriculture Systems of Sri Lanka" offered to Michigan State University, USA (14 May - 8 June 2015)

The fourth Study Abroad Program on "Sustainable Tropical Agriculture Systems of Sri Lanka" offered to Michigan State University (MSU) of the USA commenced on 14th May 2015. This tailor-made program is offered by the Agriculture Education Unit (AEU) of the Faculty of Agriculture. Fourteen students and one Faculty member from the MSU and four Sri Lankan students take part in this 4-week long program, which will end up on 8th June 2015. The inaugural session of the program was held on 14th May 2015 at the Board Room of the Faculty of Agriculture with Prof. K. Samarasinghe, the Dean/Faculty of Agriculture, as the Chief Guest. The program will be conducted at different locations in Peradeniya, Talawakelle, Nuwera Eliya, Mahailuppallama, and Kalawewa The program, which has been voted as one of the top 10 study abroad programs from among 275 such programs attended by MSU students, is coordinated by Dr. Mojith Ariyaratne with Prof. Pradeepa Silva and Prof. Buddhi Marambe as co-coordinators. Prof. Chris DiFonzo coordinates the program from the MSU end. Resource persons for the program are drawn from the University of Peradeniya (Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science), and other government and private sector organizations in Sri Lanka.
