The Department of Agricultural Extension of the Faculty of Agriculture moved to the Left Wing of the Administrative Building


The Department of Agricultural Extension of the Faculty of Agriculture, moved to a new premise located in the left wing of the main administrative complex of the faculty. An official ceremony was planned by the staff and the students of the Department on 21st of March, 2016 to commence work. Prof. Upul Dissanayake, the Vice Chancellor of the University, graced the opening ceremony as the chief guest. The other distinguished guests included the Dean of the Faculty, the Director of the Postgraduate Institute of Agriculture, the Heads of Departments, academic and non-academic staff from the faculty. The Vice Chancellor, during his speech, congratulated the faculty on its development achievements. The Dean highlighted the importance of team work and the support extended by the university administration, while the Head of the Department stated the challenge of making optimum use of the new facility to ensure that graduates are competent, professional and well groomed for their future careers. The Department occupies the two upper floors of the right wing of the building. The facilities include space for a modern audio visual unit, class rooms and laboratory space for ICT training and office rooms for the staff. The facility will be further developed with required equipment for training in communication, interpersonal competencies, and production of agricultural extension and media training material. All participants extended their best wishers for the future development of the Department of Agricultural Extension on this happy occasion.
