The 1st National Symposium on Sustainable Nitrogen management – 2023

The Sri Lankan Government, through the Colombo Declaration of the UNEP, has pledged to reduce Nitrogen (N) waste by 50% by the end of year 2030. In order to find out ways and means of doing this, the UKRI GCRF South Asian Nitrogen Hub is conducting several programs in different South Asian countries bringing together experts from over 32 leading research organizations from across South Asia and the UK. The program lead by Prof. S.P. Nissanka of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Peradeniya, is conducting the 1st National Symposium on Sustainable Nitrogen Management in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment and various other stakeholders. The Symposium


(SNM-2023) is scheduled to be held on 22nd-23rd June 2023 at the Grand Monarch Hotel, Thalawathugoda. The SNM-2023 aims to develop a National Action Plan for sustainable N Management, to assess current N status and national N budget, identify the policy gaps, to share knowledge and experience on N research. The symposium is one of the events organized to mark the Diamond Jubilee Celebrations of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Peradeniya.
