The Faculty of Agriculture, University of Peradeniya proudly commemorates 75 years of remarkable contributions to agricultural higher education in Sri Lanka. As part of our grand diamond jubilee celebrations, we are delighted to announce an extraordinary event that aims to ignite a passion for biological sciences among school students all across the island.
Introducing "Scientia," an exhilarating all-Island inter school quiz competition!
"Scientia" represents a bold investment in the future of our nation, as we strive to empower and nurture the next generation of scientific minds. Our vision is to captivate young minds and inspire their active participation, ensuring a bright and prosperous future for our beloved country. The competition promises to be an unforgettable experience, blending excitement and intellectual stimulation. Students will have the opportunity to engage in friendly competition, demonstrating their expertise in various areas of biological sciences. By participating in "Scientia," students will not only enhance their understanding of the subject but also develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork skills. We cordially invite you to be part of this momentous event and witness the incredible talents of our young scholars. Each school has the opportunity to nominate five (05) students. This includes four (04) contestants and one (01) reserve. The nominated students should be currently studying GCE O/L and/or A/L in the biology stream.
"Scientia" aims to assess the scientific and general knowledge of the students
Yes. The options available are English, Sinhala, and Tamil. You can select this option in the google form.
The written test will take place at a designated location within each province to screen the top two schools from each district.
From 19th August to 19th September, 2023.

Don't worry! Even if your school doesn't make it to the next round, all students who pass the written test will receive a certificate of participation.
The selection of the provincial winner!
Bringing together the brightest minds from across the province. The best two schools from each district within a province will take part in oral quiz competition on the same day.

Once the provincial winners have been determined, the next stage is a written test. This written test will be conducted in the morning, with all team members of each nine (09) school participating. The selection of the top four schools will be based on the highest total score obtained by a school in the written test.
The culmination of the "Scientia" quiz competition is the grand finale. The four schools that have excelled in the written test will compete head-to-head in an electrifying battle of knowledge and intellect. This grand finale will take place on the same day, creating an atmosphere of excitement and anticipation.
Mark your calendars for the last week of September! The grand finale of the "Scientia" quiz competition will be held at the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Peradeniya.

- 3rd place - Rs. 100,000
