The farm consists of several breeds of buffaloes. These animals are reared on the farm, especially for the purpose of practical identification for the undergraduates. Buffaloes are allowed to graze freely in the area outside the farm. Milk from buffaloes is used for processing dairy products like curd. Male calves are sold to farmers and other unproductive buffaloes are sold to buyers.

Characteristics:

• Jet black color skin
• Massive body
• Horns are short and parallel to the body
• Large neck

Surthi

Characteristics:

• Ash or brown in color skin
• Brownish golden hairs on skin
• Medium size body  
• Sickle shape horns
• Pink color in the inner side of the ear
• In some animals, white belt in the neck.

Nili ravi

Characteristics:

• Body is black in color
• White color mark on forehead
• White color switch on the tail
• Massive body
• Short horns
• Short legs
