The advanced module in genetic Improvement of plants is designed to incorporate the areas of genetics and breeding, plant physiology, plant biochemistry and biodiversity to condition plant genetic improvement. It also addresses the conventional and modern crop breeding strategies, environmental interactions and in vitro techniques needed to implement more effective crop improvement programmes. Upon the completion of this module, the student will have the ability to effectively contribute to plant improvement programmes and development of new plant varieties.
