On-Going Course In English

Offered in the 2200 semester, this course focuses on students’ skills development for academic purposes. With the training the students receive through this course, students are able to confidently write academic essays and reports, and deliver academic presentations on par with IELTS Band 5-6. Furthermore, the intended learning outcomes of the course are as follows:

analyze subject oriented material, and improve writing in terms of planning, organizing, presenting, rewriting and proofread their work,
practice identifying linguistic devices, literal meaning and main points of texts, infer meanings and author’s opinion,
practice the following academic writing conventions: construct well-developed ideas, synthesize information, differentiate fact from opinion, plan, draft and present a mini project,
practice various aspects of formal conversations, and,
conduct interviews in English language.
