Offered to students with basic competence in English in the 1100 semester, the ESL 001 course aims to prepare students for self-learning while developing effective communication skills and helping them to adapt for focus group discussions. The core components of the course exposes students to on-site and online learning while improving listening and extemporaneous speaking skills. Furthermore, the intended learning outcomes of the course are as follows:

compile and present an impromptu speech on a given simple topic,
