Symposium Objective

Provide scientific knowledge and technological interventions to promote beneficial management practices to sustain soil resource for the provision of food, income and a quality environment for people.

Main Organizer – Soil Science Society of Sri Lanka (SSSSL)

Established in 1969, SSSSL is the only professional forum dedicated to strengthen the capacity of soil scientists in Sri Lanka, promote advancement of soil science and disseminate knowledge pertaining to soil science to a diverse citizenary. It is well represented by the professionals engaged in all branches of soil science. The International Symposium on Sustainable Soil Management under the theme “Soil: Underpinning Life and Environment” is organized to celebrate the 50th anniversary of SSSSL.

Venue

The symposium will be held at the National Agriculture Information and communication centre (NAICC), Gannoruwa, Kandy, Sri Lanka on 5th and 6th December 2019. Technical sessions will be held on Day 1 of the symposium followed by an educational field tour to Nuwara Eliya, the heart of exotic vegetable production in the country on Day 2.

Chief Guest

Dr. W.M.W. Weerakoon, The Director General of Agriculture, of Department of Agriculture, Sri Lanka will grace the event as the chief guest.
