Identifying the impacts of climate variables on soil water dynamics in selected rainfed cropped fields of the Dry Zone of Sri Lanka
Extreme rainfalls and droughts can potentially alter the hydrological processes such as infiltration, redistribution, and drainage and consequently modify the agricultural water balance within the field. However, our knowledge on alteration of the transit time and its response to extreme rainfall events in various soil and cropping systems remains poorly understood. The aim of this study is to quantify and understand soil hydrological dynamics and their response to the changes in major climatic variables at the field scale in dry zone crop fields of Sri Lanka. |
