Prof. Dr.rer.agr. BD Rohitha Prasantha; I am working as a Professor in Food Science and Technology since 2020 attached to the Department of Food Science & Technology, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka. I joined the department in 2004 as a temporary senior lecturer and was placed on a tenure-track position in 2005 as senior Lecturer (Gr. II). I started my career as a research officer (1996-2000) attached to the Rice Processing Research and Development center, Sri Lanka. I obtained a B.Sc. Agriculture and M.Sc. Agriculture degrees from the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Peradeniya. I completed my Ph.D. at the Humboldt University of Berlin, Germany, Faculty of Agriculture and Horticulture in the year 2003. In 2012, I received a Fulbright fellowship to carry out my postdoctoral training at USDA-ARS, Pacific West Area-San Joaquin Valley Agricultural Sciences Center, CA, USA. In 2016, I completed 3 months of postdoctoral training at the Department of Biosystems, Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgium. My major field of research is in the area of postharvest technology, Cereal Science, Food Processing & Preservation. My specific research interest is Rice processing, CA/MA storage of grains, stored product protection, and processing quality of the grain, fruits, and vegetables. I am serving as a member of the Intellectual property (IP) management and the IP commercialization committee at the University of Peradeniya. Web of Sci.
