Three students who majored in the Department in Crop Science won a number of awards at the Faculty of Agriculture Undergraduate Research Symposium [FAuRS] – 2015 which was held for the second consecutive year on December 1, 2015 at the Faculty.
Miss. W.M.Y.K. Weerasinghe who majored in Plantation Management and Forestry won two awards: the award for the best presentation in the session “Agricultural Production and Product Development” and the overall Best Presentation for the titled ‘Effect of Growth Promoting Substances on Rooting of 5000-series Tea [Camellia sinensis (L) Kuntze]’.
Mr. H.G.J.T. Kumara who majored in Advanced Crop Production Technology too Secured an award for the best presentation in the session on ‘Technological Interventions and Applications in Agriculture’ for the presentation titled ‘Improving Nitrogen Use Efficiency of Irrigated Rice (Oryza sativa L.); Use of Enhanced Efficiency Urea’.
Miss. C.Y. Jayasekara who majored in Advanced Crop Production Technology won the award for the best presentation in the session on ‘Environment and Resource Management’ for the presentation entitled ‘Developing a Compost Production Protocol by Using Waste Coir Pith and Effluent from Coco Peat Production Process’.
